Assen takes a major step towards emission-free waste collection

The gemeente Assen gives its zero-emission ambitions a major boost: two fully electric Magnum GPM-rear loaders on DAF XD FAN chassis are now officially in use. With this, Assen builds upon the regulations for the city center that have been in effect since January 2025, sending a clear signal that the city isn't waiting for the future. It is driving it right into town itself.

The rear loaders are equipped with a spacious 23 m³ body and a GEC lifter, suitable for a wide range of containers, including Eurotainers for commercial waste.

Assen has opted for the latest Magnum GPM rear loader, featuring a completely redesigned yoke pivot point as its key innovation. Positioning this point higher prevents waste accumulation, directly resulting in reduced wear, fewer overhauls, and significantly lower maintenance costs.

In this way, Assen demonstrates that the road to a clean, quiet, and zero-emission city is not a distant vision of the future, but something already driving around today.
