Amsterdam municipality invests in electric rear loaders for waste management
Amsterdam is taking another step towards a cleaner city. From mid-2026, the municipality will put seven fully electric Magnum GPM rear loaders, built on a DAF XD Electric chassis, into service. The vehicles will be delivered to Truckland Amsterdam and are used by the gemeente Amsterdam used for sustainable waste collection in the city.
The rear loaders are equipped with a 21-cubic-meter body with fully automatic split lift, specifically designed for emptying large clusters of mini-containers. Thanks to the combination of electric drive and efficient lifter, the vehicles operate quickly, quietly, and emission-free – a significant advantage in Amsterdam's busy city center.
The purchase of these new vehicles fits within the municipality's broader sustainability strategy to drastically reduce CO₂ and other harmful emissions.
Amsterdam has ordered a total of 40 electric DAF trucks, equipped with a variety of bodies: from rear loaders and crane-bin rear loaders to crane-hooklift vehicles and front loaders with skips. This investment will enable the city to collect virtually all types of household and commercial waste completely emission-free.
